Mellwood was a celebrated bourbon whiskey distillery, founded in 1865 in Louisville, Kentucky. The business was the brainchild of George W. Swearingen, an entrepreneurial hardscrabble farmer.
Initially a small scale operation, Mellwood became one of the largest and most successful institutions in the state. Alongside its flagship bottle, the company produced a range of popular whiskey brands including Marble Brook, Rubicon, and Runnymede.
Mellwood closed its doors during Prohibition but a liquor development firm in the USA is looking to resurrect the brand. I was asked to craft a collection of advertising slogans using a Southern gentleman’s TOV (tone of voice).
